Through the month of January, I posted one Act of Kindness per day. I loved seeing your stories and hearing about experiences of new friendships made and smiles created! By request for the list and in hopes that these might inspire you for the remainder of the year, here is the January Kindness Challenge.
Day 1: Praise someone for their efforts rather than their achievements.
Day 2: Compliment the next person you see- stranger or friend!
Day 3: Bring goodies to work/school- Everyone loves it when someone brings treats!
Day 4: Text/message a friend from Elementary to see how they are.
Day 5: Create a holiday to celebrate someone you care about. (Ex.____ Appreciation Day)
Day 6: Post sticky notes with positive messages on a mirror in a public bathroom.
Day 7: Compliment someone in front of others.
Day 8: Message a teacher or mentor who made a difference in your life.
Day 9: Offer to return a shopping cart for someone loading groceries into their car.
Day 10: Give your pet some extra love today in the form of snuggles, a walk, or treats!
Day 11: Introduce yourself to the person you see every day but haven’t met- yet!
Day 12: Call your parents or grandparents.
Day 13: Pay for the order of the person behind you in the coffee drive thru.
Day 14: Write a hand-written note to a friendly neighbour and drop it in their mailbox.
Day 15: Ask the next person you interact with what the highlight of their day has been so far.
Day 16: Be kind to yourself today! (Stretch, take a bath, play an instrument, etc.)
Day 17: Share a good memory with a friend. “Hey, remember that time…” 🙂
Day 18: Do a closet clean and donate the clothes you no longer need.
Day 19: Pay for a stranger’s coffee or tea after befriending them in the line.
Day 20: Buy a plant and gift it to someone who needs some brightness in their life.
Day 21: Think of someone who challenges you to be the best version of yourself. Tell them!
Day 22: Every time you sense yourself being grumpy, INTENTIONALLY put a smile on your face. Do it!
Day 23: Go out of your way to hold the door open for someone. (An oldie but a goodie!)
Day 24: Tell a cashier or receptionist that you genuinely hope something good happens to him/her today.
Day 25: If you normally cook just for yourself but live with others, cook a meal to share!
Day 26: Focus on quality relationships today: Kindness is wanting to spend time with people in this life who you love. Make time for that today 🙂
Day 27: Make a homemade card for someone who inspires you.
Day 28: Ask yourself what it means to be kind to yourself mentally and physically.
Day 29: Tell someone at the gym that they’re killing it!
Day 30: Minimize judgement.
Day 31: Truly listen and show that you care.
Part of being your best self is sharing your gifts with others. We never know what others are going through, and a little kindness could mean the world.
